We Are Stalking: FrouFrouu

Since UK blogger Nadia Sarwar created her personal style blog, FrouFrouu, nearly a year-and-a-half ago, she has collected quite the loyal following. Sticking with her “a picture is worth a thousand words” philosophy, Nadia has glittered her blog with images that are striking and poignant, and allow the reader into her world of style. Here, the ever-modest Nadia opens up to C40 about her greatest obsession and what she is currently coveting.

C40. Why did you decide to launch FrouFrouu?

NS. I started blogging at the beginning of last year, having been inspired by other bloggers. It was a means of documenting the evolution of my personal style and inspirations—a diary of sorts.

C40. What is your biggest vice?

NS. Chocolate.

C40. When you aren’t blogging, what are you doing?

NS. I’m stalking eBay, conceptualizing and eating too much chocolate.

C40. How would you sum up your aesthetic?

NS. Paradoxical.

C40. Who does the photography for your site? How does the photography translate your blog’s aesthetic?

NS. Either close friends or family members. The text tends to be minimal, so I like to convey a mood through the images. I’m probably a little too pedantic about the content. We take far too many photos, which I spend time editing to reflect my tastes; I want to like what I see on the site, as a whole.

C40. What are you currently coveting?

NS. Jodhpurs, long robes, vintage nighties to wear as dresses, hats in all shapes and sizes and Chelsea boots.

C40. What blogs are you stalking?

NS. Too many! I have a penchant for street style blogs, but also love an array of others: Suki Alice, Bitter by Twenty, Anywho and The Showmanship, to name but a few.

C40. What do you look for when picking outfits for FrouFrouu?

NS. Nothing in particular; I wear whatever is akin to what I feel inspired by on that day.

C40. Where did you get the name for your blog?

NS. I was going through a girlie phase at the time of creation. It seemed apt, and I liked the sound of the words rolling off the tongue.

C40. It seems as though Londoners adopt style trends well before Americans. Have you noticed any emerging trends in the UK that may have yet to make their ways to the other side of the pond?

NS. I don’t know how true that is! I’m not particularly trend-conscious, but—off the top of my head—calf-length hems, and rust.
