Fashion: Cult Status

Rachel Freire SS10

With well-placed holes and tears and shiny armor-like bodices, it seems Rachel Freire’s SS10 collection has been to war and back. Photographer Philip Volkers perfectly captured the essence of the collection, placing it in an eclectic and bizarre backdrop of silver planes, cages, dinosaur bones and machinery—which, surprisingly, perfectly complemented Freire’s silver latex leggings.

For spring, Freire meshed statement shoulders and Victorian ruffles with stretch metallics and ripped scarves, and utilized a versatile, clean and chic color palette composed of gunmetal grey, charcoal, and peach; each shown in multiple textures and fabrics, they went beyond ordinary neutrals and contributed to the dramatic look of this must-see collection.
