Fashion: On Trend
Lighten Up
Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010
Like the girl in the Motley Crue song, I am most often “dressed in black on black” (Am I the first fashion writer ever to quote “Same Ol’ Situation”? Yep, think so.). So, the fact that I recently came across a pair of bright white bells and purchased them without hesitation was odd, to say the least. I hadn’t thought of how peculiar a purchase they were until I got home, stuck them in my closet and saw them sticking out like a sore thumb. A transitional piece on my way to a more-feminine wardrobe? More like my subconscious succumbing to fashion’s nouveau-rocker trend realized.
Taking a break from black while still maintaining a sexy edge, it seems fashion’s most hardcore set is lightening up through fall; Erin Wasson, Katie Gallagher and Ann-Sofie Back were among the many designers who revealed a surprising number of looks consisting of head-to-toe white for FW10.
Cleanse and repeat? We’ll see, come SS11.
