Fashion: On The Runway
GUCCI FW10 @ MILAN FASHION WEEK
Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Sure, at the start of each show season, Fashion Week fans around the world get excited for the lights, the cameras and the runway-strutting supermodels wearing ridiculously-beautiful pieces (aka, high fashion)—including me. Still, this anticipation pales in comparison to the feelings I get just before the start of one specific show, Gucci. As a small boy, Gucci was one of my favorite brands, and—as I’ve gotten older—I’ve come to equate the Gucci woman with my kind of woman; consistently sophisticated, modern and edgy, the realized vision of current designer Frida Giannini keeps us all wanting more.
For me, the words that best describe the Gucci FW10 collection are “Grown & Sexy”. From the healthy, bouncy blow-outs and fur-invaded outerwear to the sexy, uber-tailored daywear and thigh-hugging boots, it’s a collection likely to make every woman realize her wardrobe’s in need of an upgrade. Referencing the ’60s (case in point: mod day dresses and feathered eveningwear) and the ’90s (boot-cut pants), Giannini also channeled the Tom Ford GG logo era, plastering the rich logo on her handbags. Standouts for me included refreshing takes on eveningwear, including pants (I see the wearer as mature, yet rebellious) and thigh-high boots—perfectly sophisticated, and proof of Giannini’s innovation.
Thank you, Ms. Frida Giannini. I am sure the FW10 ad campaign will be hot.

I second this…Gucci will always be the show where one experiences a visual orgasm.
