The Local Firm
Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010
The Local Firm, a Sweden-based line, should be the go-to for any stylist dressing “the badass kids in school” for a movie—that is, if the characters are supposed to have an amazing sense of fashion and the ability to put together immaculate outfits with seemingly minimal effort. They could be shown simply sitting in a back stairwell smoking cigarettes to depict their scripted “cool vibe”, thanks to their clothes (okay, and maybe the cigarettes). I feel like C40’s Autumn could be cast as part of the pack; The Local Firm definitely reminds me of her.
The collection has minimal color (who needs color?), made up mostly of black, grey and denim. There is a retro ’80s feel to the looks, but modern architecture is definitely part of the mix. I am really drawn to the denim; the styles aren’t low-rise (which I like), and they have really great details. Both the women’s and the men’s lines are composed of killer clothes that would make for hot everyday wear. I also love, love, LOVE The Local Firm’s sunglasses, called SPECTACLES. According to the website, they are “inspired by 3-D glasses and ’80s electro tunes”. They are amazing, and they must be mine.
