Fashion: On The Runway
TODD LYNN FW10 @ LONDON FASHION WEEK
Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010
The model’s faces were stark, bare, neutral—almost makeup-less. Hair was simple and pulled back. The colors on the runway were neutral, too—tan, gray and black—perfect for keeping focus on the impeccable tailoring and cut of the garments. Todd Lynn’s FW10 collection showed both women’s and men’s pants, jackets and vests, with pieces that seemed inspired by the prehistoric era; it was as though the models-slash-cavemen and -women went out, killed their prey and dressed themselves in it.
I love the structure of Lynn’s jackets, with their more-than-evident quality construction; this man knows how to cut a jacket. He incorporated little surprises to contribute to the collection’s individuality and intrigue, including the banded leather jacket in look 14 and the leather bolero/shoulder holster in look 18. Strong shoulders were definitely the theme of this collection, built with fur and leather–a few of my favorite things.
