Fashion: On The Runway

NYFW FW10 – TRACY REESE

Tracy Reese does not disappoint. The designer’s FW10 collection was described as “an eclectic mix of urban and rural style.” I would love to see the “rural” areas Ms. Reese is accustomed to, as they must be wholly different from those I know of here in Missouri. This must be a case similar to Dsquared’s “glamping.” Wherever these designers are going, that’s where I’d like to be. Rural areas aside, I loved this collection and how it flowed from beginning to end.

Anchored by black and gray tights, or the skinniest of skinny pants, Tracy Reese’s FW10 collection is so wearable it is one of the few collections that can go straight from the runway to your closet. Reese said “my number one inspiration is my customer.” It definitely shows. I loved the use of mixed textures – looks with lace, knits and tweeds, jacquards, ruching, chunky scarves and arm-high fingerless gloves -and something she is well known for, prints. Reese included what seem to be emerging trends for FW10 – fall florals, shorts, plaids and fur (faux in this case).

Hair and makeup looks were simple and pretty. The model’s hair had loose, messy waves secured in a low side ponytail, while the makeup was the classic nude lip, smoky eye combo. The show wrapped up  a fanciful, pink cocktail dress paired with black lace tight (very Madonna 1986) and an amazing, black lace gown one could easily picture on a young starlet on the red carpet.
