NYFW FW10 – HELMUT LANG

Seeing the first look, with the cream fabric draping across the model’s body, I took a deep breath. Helmut, I’ve missed you. So glad to have you back again. Each look built upon the last, and the next looks were built around black- texture and my fave–fur! And shearling! And leather! Oh, how I love a good coat. The room starts spinning, the palpitations begin and my breathing becomes heavier. Helmut Lang proved once again, a mastery of the basics. Most looks are paired with classic Lang – black or gray skinnies – but the silhouette was different; a bit of a departure – higher rise, pleated and with a tapered leg.

The jackets, as always, do not disappoint – tailored and edgy- I covet them all. I love the abstract print on many of the dresses, especially the wolf. For a collection that doesn’t use a lot of color, the colors that are used are done so masterfully and in a traditional fall palette. Then they throw in a rather perfect LBD. Am I dreaming? Must buy more Lang! This collection truly rocks my world.
