BLAK
Thursday, February 18th, 2010
Recently I stumbled upon a line called BLAK, and I was transfixed. At first I was drawn into the collection because the model had a bun in all the images (I love a good bun), but then I realized how amazing the clothes are. The clothing was exactly what I’d been looking for in my wardrobe. Sure, by the name it sounds like it will be mostly dark clothing, but it’s so much more. Based in New Zealand, BLAK was started by designer Teresa Hodges, and she may just be one of my favorite new designers. Hodges has two collections—Blak Basics and Blak Luxe.
“Simple styling and fine, luxurious knits, the BLAK BASICS collection is made up of the wearable pieces that you’ve been looking for.” The basics really are all I would need in my wardrobe. There are only three colors in this collection: black, gray and purple. But with these colors, she has made skirts, dresses, pants and tops that will make you look chic and sexy no matter where you decide to wear them. They are all staple pieces that could be easily incorporated into any wardrobe. The luxe collection is equally thrilling. Pantlessness, strong shoulders and minis are just the beginning as to why I’m so obsessed with BLAK LUXE. Prior to seeing this collection, I had little interest in New Zealand, but now it may be one of my top places to visit. I’m excited to see what Blak has coming next.
