My obsession with Sweden started about a year and a half ago; after spending a long weekend in Malmö, also known as the Swedish Riviera, I was officially hooked on Saabs, platinum blond hair and incorporating the Swedish street style into what I considered my frumpy American wardrobe. My time in Sweden was short, but the impact it left on my personal style will last a lifetime.

So what does Swedish blogger and fashionista extraordinaire Caroline Blomst have to do with this? Her blog, Caroline’s Mode, is the epitome of Swedish and European street fashion. Her style is simple, yet she knows how to make a statement with anything from a black mini to a striped scarf. It’s not about the designer, but the design–and her innate talent for mixing pieces and starting trends is evident throughout her blog. I can’t help but relive my long weekend in Malmö every time I visit Caroline’s Mode–minus the overpriced food!

Recently, I was lucky enough to interview Caroline about her personal style, her dream shopping buddy and her advice for aspiring fashion bloggers.

Q:  How has your style evolved since starting Caroline’s Mode?

A: My basic image or look haven’t changed that much, but I guess I have changed with the new styles the designers and stores are offering. My favorite items are still a leather jacket, a Balenciaga bag and a pair of heels.

Q: Who are your style icons? How have they influenced your style on your site?

A: I like M-K and Ashley Olsen, Rachel Zoe and I often look at what the models are wearing. They inspire me and what inspires me gets featured on the site.

Q: What do you think sets a part a good blog from a bad blog? What are your top 5 favorite blogs to visit?

A: A good blog inspires and creates material; a bad blog copies. Actually, I don’t read a lot of fashion blogs because I think they limit me from being me. I become to influenced and end up blogging about the same stuff as everybody else. I don’t want my blog to be like any other blog. Kissies.se is the only blog I read on a daily basis.

Q: Where do you see Caroline’s Mode in 5 years? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

A: I don’t plan that far ahead. I live in the moment; what ever happens happens.

Q: What are you currently coveting?

A: Oh, it’s something very special–but have to keep it a secret until I get it! Sorry!

Q: If you could describe your personal style in three words or less how would you describe it?

A: Stockholm meets Paris.

Q: Do you ever think about your audience when choosing outfits for Caroline’s Mode?

A:  No, not when choosing outfits that I wear. But I think in a wider perspective in my outfit collages.

Q: Besides blogging, what do you love?

A: Shopping! Spending time in Paris. Playing Counter Strike or Monkey Island. Spending time with family and friends.

Q: If you could go shopping with anyone living or dead, who would you go with and why?

A: I’d go with Michael Jackson; I love his style!

Q: What advice do you have for aspiring fashion bloggers?

A:  Don’t try this at home!
