TRISKAIDEKAPHOBIA
Monday, January 4th, 2010
Broken mirrors, a black cat in your path, circles of salt,… a lot of people have superstitions and fears–including the fear of the number thirteen, which is called “triskaidekaphobia”. Triskaidekaphobia also happens to be a jewelry line inspired by the “irrational and hysteria in everyday life”. Trust me, it’s a lot easier to wear than to say.
“Triskaidekaphobia represents instances when everyday life blurs the boundaries with insanity to create something extreme, unreal and yet completely fantastic.” And, when this happens, things are never quite what they seem; tiny skulls and skeleton parts are hiding in flower bouquets, while a spiked cuff made of metal teeth is paired with dainty, leather, ladylike bows. Swoon!
By the Six Six Sick girls, Tiffany and Christina, the premier Triskaidekaphobia holiday collection features hospital-inspired pieces (ID bracelets and Ace wrap cuffs), as well as some designs that call to mind Alice in Wonderland.
All in all, one thing’s for sure–Triskaidekaphobia has got me trippin’.
