Hooters – Gemma Degara
Friday, January 8th, 2010
I’m not ashamed to admit that the first thing I noticed about Gemma Degara were her hooters. For her FW09 collection, the Spanish designer featured owl illustrations and quiet, shadow-like prints that made my heart soar. Illustrator Sandra Suy collaborated with Degara to create the great prints that are not only great for fall, but will work well into spring.
Gemma Degara’s FW09 collection titled “Sleepless Nights” features everything from silk dresses to slouchy, draped cardigans and shock-blue onesies that can be flipped around, worn with the “front” in “back”; such “180 degrees” garments allow wearers to interpret the same garment in a different way, and get more bang for their buck. Gemma Degara is a label in which functionality and comfort are the real protagonists. She also has a handful of mullet tank dresses/tops, which I really dig. Mullets and hooters? Really, that’s all I need.
Innovative designs and great hooters, “Sleepless Nights” is certainly a dream-come-true collection. I’ll most certainly be tossing and turning until the early hours, wondering how to get my hands on it.
Gemma Degara is available online at Etsy, Pixie Market and Buy Definition.
