IDOL LONDON CALLING
Wednesday, January 20th, 2010
I’m going to tell you a secret; something many women don’t like to talk about: I was born in the ’70s, and grew up in the ’80s–from the end of the Studio 54 era to the days defined by Michael Jackson, hip-hop, Banarama, Duran Duran, hair bands and Dynasty; those were some serious fashion years. It’s no wonder that, with all of the fashion inspiration that surrounded me for so much of my life, I ended up with a career in fashion. A collection that impeccably meshes all of the fashion-based memories of my upbringing? Idol London.
Idol London was founded by Donavan Pascal and Mark Herman, both alumni of The London College of Fashion with reputable fashion pedigrees. Idol London is part rocker chic and part Alexis Carrington, with sprinkles of Axl Rose and Erin Wasson. The collection–featuring leather, acid wash, booties and sequins–is simultaneously ’80s-reminiscent and modern. Simply amazing. If I didn’t know any better, I would have thought that C40’s Jill Manoff was the designer of the collection, as her name is written all over each of the bad-ass pieces.
Idol London is calling. Pick up!
