“Beauty defined by the power of fashion” is the motto of designer David Alexander. Well, he certainly nailed the beauty and power part in his latest collection, anchored by sequins, strong shoulders, snakeskin, bold colors, open backs and peplums.  The collection is wicked, smart and seemingly custom-made for the sexy, femme fatale who not only has a killer attitude, but a killer body to boot.

I learned about the LA-based designer via Twitter, and quickly became a huge fan. Honestly, give me an open back and a sequin, and I’m sold–but Alexander took my loves to the next level. I love his play on proportion, his use of textural elements and the fact that his collection is super-sexy without being overtly so (a hard-to-accomplish feat!).

An FIDM and Parsons graduate, I am confident this fashion newcomer has a bright future. We have a lot to look forward to!
