Fashion: On Trend

OTIS & MACLAIN

Yes, I have a thing for prints. And retro ’80s styles. And anything related to Aaron Spelling and the ’90s (ahem, specifically “Saved by the Bell” and “90210″). There’s no shame in my game, and I don’t care if anyone knows that I want to look and dress like Kelly Kapowski and Kelly Taylor and that I  not only know the words, but also the choreography, to the Hot Sundae video. But I digress. You’re probably asking yourself, “How does any of this relate to fashion and Corridor40?” Well, I’ve recently seen my two worlds collide in the form of Otis & Maclain.

Otis & Maclain was created by co-owners/designers, Shamani Hall and Andrea Cheatham (a University of Missouri-Columbia grad). These talented ladies’ fashion backgrounds include a kickstart at Madison in L.A. They soon began their careers as designers in order to “create a unique clothing line that uses simple, versatile body styles mixed with hand-picked silks and rayons that are easy to wear, but fashion forward.” Mission accomplished. The collection, mainly tunics and dresses, is fun–and the prints are fanastic! These Otis & Maclain pieces are the type one would build their wardrobe around, as they are easily paired with jeans, jorts or leggings. If you really want to get down and go for it, you could even pair with jeggings. But, wear with caution; the line is certain to induce fights between Zach and Slater over who will be your dance partner at The Max.
