Fashion: Freshman Class

IT’S TRICKY

This season, fashion is all an illusion. No, really. We’ve seen the trompe l’oeil (French for “trick the eye”) trend on the FW09 runways of Stella McCartney, Comme des Garcons and Viktor & Rolf (no shock there). It has also crept onto the more-accessible scene, in the forms of jeggings and leggings.

London College of Fashion undergrad student Rosalind Keep took the trend and ran with it when she collaborated with U.K. retailer Oasis for its most recent Designer Collective. The collection features oversized T-shirts, vests and tunics, with dresses and jackets drawn on top. Very tricky.

Keep’s collection has already hit Oasis stores, and is available online–so you can quickly get your hands on the faux cocktail dress or the Chanel-esque jacket. The best part? You can feel and look elegant, while staying comfortable in a T-shirt–a much more fashionable take on the trend than your prom date’s tuxedo tee.
