Fashion: On Trend
The Illusionary Effect
Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009
What’s better than skin-tight, thigh-clenching, ripped denim jeans? Skin-tight, thigh clenching, pseudo-ripped jeggings. The trend of illusionary legwear is starting to pick up, with Bakers having perfected the art of posing jeggings as real, ripped jeans and Gal Stern introducing seemingly fish-scaled and armored tights. If Monet had lived in the 21st century, I think his canvas of choice may have been spandex.
From afar, printed jeggings and their counterparts look like perfectly pre-ripped jeans and sequined pants. But, up close, they are anything but–with no tears, netting or sewn-on sparkles to be found. If you are having trouble finding skinny-enough skinny jeans, or you just want to unapologetically wear painted-on fish scales, then check out Bakers and Far Fetch. What’s best, no one will know your high-fashion look is actually comfy as hell.
