Warm Me Up
Monday, October 26th, 2009
Living in the Heartland, you know that one day it can be steaming hot and the next day freezing cold. This year it seems that Mother Nature decided to skip fall completely and move right into winter. Parkas, wool jackets, and pea coats are flying off of sales floors. Make sure that you find the right coat this winter that makes everyone warm with envy and doesn’t leave you out in the cold.

If you’re looking for something with a little class and warmth, Philip Lim has a navy wool pea coat dressed up with plaid. Fit for a king, it comes with a zip off rabbit fur collar. Nigel Cabourn Irvine Rucksack Parka is definitely a favorite too, made of hopsack-style wool and features a belted waist, hidden hood and button adjustable cuffs.
Nice, but have a budget? Urban Outfitters seemed to get it right this season with their variety of the modern versions of the pea coat. Look for asymmetrical zippers, double button plackets along with an asymmetrical yoke from Volcom Leeward Zip Pea Coat. If you’re into something a bit more trendy you might want to try the Volcom Kyoto Jacket at Urban Outfitters with military details. Each winter we hit up The Alpine Shop as a local favorite. There you can get cool street gear such as Burton Fall/Winter Idiom collection or the Burton x Paul Smith Collection.

This season Adidas Originals by Originals collaborated with the Japanese brand Neighborhood creating an awesome waterproof pea coat. What’s so cool about this dig? Zippered closure pockets, breathable Diaplex construction and hidden Adidas logos so that you don’t feel like you’re advertising the brand. Make sure you order yours quick because word is they have a limited stock.
Make sure you stay warm and stay in style. There are plenty of styles this season to fit any budget.
