Fashion: On Trend

GOING IN THE NUDE

There is a lot to be said about a woman in a nude color. I personally think it’s very chic and sophisticated. The barely-there tone has come a long way since being a main selection in your grandmother’s wardrobe, now it’s become ageless as young designers work their innovation into creating youthful silhouettes using the flesh-like color. Even accessories have indulged into the sultry color like Olivier Peoples ’70s-inspired shades in a nude pearl with gold trim. At Versace, Donatella gave us a barely-there platform with draped and elastic detail. I’ve always felt that there was something unique and sleek about the color nude, and there seems to be a mysteriousness in the subtle tone.

On the runway, designers revamped the “It” tone by collaborating the color with textures or creating unique shapes. Alexander Wang made wearing nude youthful in every way by creating body-conscious minis while adding peek-a-boos of black to give the look an edginess. Then, there were luxe designers like Muiccia Prada of Mui Mui whose collection was 70 percent nude, but the twist of the trend was the embellishments that conquered the collection. My favorite was Bottega Veneta. Tomas Maier went ultra-luxe minimalism with the color, sending the girls out as if they stepped out of the pages of a noir novel. All in all, this is definitely a chic tone to invest into for work wear or to go out with your friends. This is a color that says, “Sexy yet independent.”
