Fashion: On Trend
A Step Into Candyland
Monday, October 26th, 2009
When I start to think of colors that relate to fall, it’s always the color of leaves like the unique variations of browns, reds and oranges. I’m so used to seeing people wearing dull and dark colors for fall and yes, after a while everything becomes blah and boring. With me included, I personally think that every fashionista should think outside of the box. And although fall and winter are two of my favorite seasons (especially when it comes to fashion), I feel that it’s time to turn things up a notch on the hues.
The fashion world jumped right into this idea of color in many variations for FW09. What I like most about this trend is that the colors aren’t just any colors; they all are resembling some type of candy. Fashionistas, get your sweet tooth for shoes ready because they’ve been designed in all sorts of textures and cuts known to man. At John Galliano, Mr. Galliano himself revealed his fantasy of these whimsical creatures that marched down a snowy runway in shoes inspired by vintage wooden sleds. Out of that collection my favorite was the patent strawberry cut-out bootie that will make you as close to 8 feet tall as possible. And while Galliano conquered the runway, Bruno Frisoni of Roger Vivier gave us couture to the foot that were in the palettes of bubble gums and cotton candy like the thin bandage bootie named Belle Lucie (how’s that for an ultra-luxe must have?). If you’re not into the color, Karl Lagerfeld delivered a patent black licorice bootie that screams gothic glam with a little axe detail. Overall, it’s really refreshing to see a burst of color in this dreary time we call the recession. With this trend, you’ll definitely be able to brighten up your wardrobe.
